Study Shows Corporate IT Executives
Concerned Most about Security and Mobility &emdash;
Data Securities Has an Answer

A biometric-enabled flash drive with the best encryption possible is an answer to the top concerns for information technology executives.

ORLANDO, Florida – According to a study completed last fall, the biggest concern in 2007 for corporate information technology executives is protecting data, especially with an increasingly-mobile workforce. The study, by The Equs Group, a market research company focusing on technology products, showed the IT execs ranked protection of proprietary and customer data as among their highest concerns. Additionally, those surveyed felt that employee use of flash drives causes significant apprehension.

As a solution to these concerns, Data Securities recommends the use of the HLS BioFlash USB Drive. The HLS BioFlash USB Drive is an instant and inexpensive solution to prevent unauthorized access and data theft,” said Carrie Herrmann, Managing Partner at Data Securities, an exclusive distributor of the mouse and flash drives. “It would take a bank of Cray supercomputers 12 years to decrypt data that has been encrypted on this thumb drive.”

The BioFlash USB Drive is the first to combine biometric authentication using a fingerprint sensor and 384-bit encryption. This provides the highest level of encryption available on the market today. Furthermore, the fingerprint sensor on the HLS Flash Drive uses a capacitance reader, so a live “beating” fingerprint is required – an important advantage over other systems that can be tricked with a digital scan.

Moreover, the BioFlash USB Drive has additional features to provide enhanced security. First, it can be used as a verification tool to lockdown a computer and deny access to unauthorized individuals. Also, the thumb drive can be used to create a hidden, encrypted partition on a hard drive, undetectable by other users who will not see any change in available disk space. These features protect data from prying eyes; even if a thief steals the computer, the data will still be virtually impossible to access.

“This device is a large step to guarding corporate data”, added Herrmann. “Just using one with my computer gives me the reassurance that I am doing all I can to protect my information. Even the President’s Identity Theft Task Force’s interim recommendations include using biometrics to authenticate the identities of individuals accessing protected data.”

Based in Orlando, Data Securities is a consortium of entrepreneurs who have joined forces to distribute the HLS BioFlash Flash Drives and other advanced information security products. The drives, which retail at $179 for 1 GB and $389 for 2 GB of memory, will only be available directly from HLS exclusive distributors and will not be available in stores.
